The Honeymoon!!

We went to Charleston, SC on January 2nd (spent the wedding night at home, which is exactly what we both wanted to do!!), and returned January 6th.  As most of you know, our wedding day was beautiful!  Cold, but clear and sunny -- lovely!  But it was Bob's idea to tempt fate -- so we gave out ice scrapers for our wedding favors!!  Well, fate had a little twist in mind for us -- suffice it to say that it wasn't as warm and sunny in Charleston when we arrived as it was on our wedding day!  It snowed for the first time in 10 years in the Charleston area the day before we arrived!  We got into the rental car, and there was a quarter inch of ice on the windshield (and we didn't bring any ice scrapers with us!!).

Now THAT's IRONY!!!

But we had a blast!!!  The day we got there, it was 30 degrees outside (see the "EXT" temperature from the car's digital dash):

It was so cold, Bob even wore his coat inside the restaurant!!  We went to T-Bonz (right on Market Street) on our first night out:

This was our first morning -- and here's a shot of our first room  (we stayed at two different Bed and Breakfast Inns during our stay).  This one is the Fulton Lane Inn -- with a jacuzzi in the room and a fireplace, and everything!

Now we go out a-wandering...Charleston is known for its churches (it's the Holy City!!):

...and for its (ooooooaaaaahhhhhh) GHOST tours...
(which of course we took that night!)

This is our second B&B - The Kings Courtyard Inn.  We played honeymooners for a good while (spent half the day in bed!!).  Then we went to Fort Sumter, and the old Provost Building and Dungeon:

Time for a massage after all that trekking -- this is Dave, and he worked on both of us!!-- and boy did that feel goooooooood!!!  Check out the look on Bob's face towards the end!!

Then we went to the Charleston Symphony Orchestra's first concert of the year -- it was a fantastic evening, with Bundit Ungrangsse conducting and Isabella Lippi as violin soloist.  See Bob for details (I just know it was nice music -- he can tell you specifics!!)

On our last day, we took in a few historic homes (and I grabbed a nap in the car while Bob checked out Battery Park) and then on to the Charleston museum (the oldest museum in the country)

Now we head off to the airport where we have a little warm-up drink, before Bob dons my chapeau prior to boarding the plane!!  (Yeah, let's not look too crazy before boarding a plane nowadays, Bob!!)

Hey, we made it home okay, although the weather seemed determined to derail us -- our flight was delayed a couple of hours due to a snowstorm heading through the DC area!!!

I think we need to plan a cruise to the Caribbean for our first anniversary, don't you, Bob?
(Take my boss's advice -- just nod and say "Yes, dear!")
